Had a day at home today, marking exam papers, so not many opportunities for an interesting photo.
This ivy is in our garden!
This is to balance the biscuit photo from a couple of weeks ago and yesterday's beer!!
So England are out of the World Cup. The ridiculous optimism that appears every couple of years at major tournaments has, yet again, been destroyed and is now replaced by a veneer of jingoistic indignation. Oh well, maybe next time!
We went to the children's playground in Hall Leys Park. It's a lovely little playground at the Tansley end of the park with the Little David miniature railway separating it from the River Derwent. The pumping station is nearby.
We went to the Garden Party at Chatsworth House this evening.
It was a lovely family event with picnics and champagne and bands playing and a gorgeous sunet behind the house.
I came back a scenic route from a rehearsal in Nottingham where I had heard the Nottingham Hospitals' Choir go through a new song of mine (a setting of JOURNEY'S END by Tolkien). The concert is on July 3rd at The Becket School in Nottingham.
I came back via Cossall, which is such a lovely village in the heart of D. H. Lawrenece country, and then back to the A6 at The Hurt Arms where I saw this Hot Air Balloon being deflated.
These flower pots sit on our dining room window sill.
I'm at home today. Marking A-level Music Technology Papers.
I was at work all day - including being in a Music Tech exam all afternoon (very dull) - but while I was ay work Mrs. S and the girls made these cupcakes!
Apparently the one with specs and a moustache is for me!
We went for a day out to Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground.
The kids always love the animals (though Elliot is terrified of chickens!) and the playground is fab.
We went to the Matlock Pre-school Summer Fayre at the Tin Hut. A sweet little event.
On the way back we took the short cut through the grounds of County Hall. Clearly there had been a wedding earlier in the day as there was confetti on the lawn.
Probably the main talking point of the World Cup so far is the sound of the vuvuzelas in the crowd.
These plastic trumpets sound, en masse, like a swarm of bees in the crowd.
Sainsbury's are selling them in the UK. They're just £2.
I couldn't resist and bought this one!
Not sure what to say about this photo. It's fairly obvious what it is!
I was driving home and hadn't taken my photo for the day.
These flowers are outside the Derbyshire Dales Council offices in Matlock.
It's Martha's birthday today. She's 3!
We went to Cheeky Monkeys at Darwin Forest for birthday tea and soft play.
She got a mix of presents including a DVD, a play BBQ and a pink trampoline. This is her new doll's house.
These flower pots are on our front steps.
The middle one has our first red strawberry in it!
Driving back from Mablethorpe I saw these clouds near Grimsby....
We're at the seaside in Lincolnshire so a photo of sone rock seemed very appropriate!
I went on a school trip to Derby University to see the graduate arts and creative media final shows.
Some fantastic art. Some needlessly pretentious crap.
This is a macro of a pile of paper. One of 4 piles of different materials.
I think the title speaks for itself!
I drove back from Loughborough via Belper and took this photograph of the historic East Mill.
I've tried to make it look dated and old.
I bought these in Frankfurt in 1999 - I was there for the total eclipse that went across Europe in August.
They're on the shelves that divide our kitchen and dining room.
Overnight we've had really huge thunderstorms and rain.
Today the Cafe in the Park (Hall Leys Park, Matlock) was celebrating its 10th anniversary with a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, fairground rides and fancy dress parade!
We spent the morning at the beach at FIsherman's Walk, Bournemouth.
It was very hot and very sunny.
The cliff lift wasn't working today.
We're having a quiet day at home with the kids playing in the garden at Grandma and Grandad's.
These snails were down by the sand pit.
We went for a walk to Mudeford Quay to watch the people crabbing.
